Gorey Hell
“Gog and Magog are at work in the Middle East…. The biblical prophecies are being fulfilled…. This confrontation is willed by God, who wants to use this conflict to erase his people’s enemies before a New Age begins.”--George W. Bush

This delusional, worm-brained wingnut was in charge of *an entire nation.* THIS nation. One wants to weep.

Kali - cute but deadly

I find myself rather desperately wanting to kick the ShamWOW!/SlapChop pitchman in the teeth.

Failing that, Billy Mays would do rather nicely.

PETA's PR department smells like low tide.

IT Crowd !FAIL!
In an herculean feat of re-branding, the folks at PETA have declared that fish are now to be known as Sea Kittens. (Because who would want to hurt a sea kitten?)

In addition to being unable to draw an accurate analogy, they seem to have done rather poorly in biology class. Of course an appropriate name for "baby sea kittens" is not "caviar", any more than the unfertilized eggs in my ovaries should be called "babies".

The PR team that conceived this campaign should be tarred with salmon roe and dragged through the streets of a fishing village at night behind a beat up black Econoline van covered in BillyBasses that are all singing Love Me Tender.

I love animals, but I hate PETA.

Why should Americans vote?

Todd Bentley claims to be a faith healer, and he is *wildly* popular. (He is also praying for Armageddon.) Here, he describes some of the things the holy spirit has told him to do in order to "heal"--including kicking an old lady in the face, knocking out a man's tooth, and using various aggressive take-downs. (On a clergyman, no less.)

Oh, and don't worry--they don't actually show the tumor exploding and falling down the woman's leg in a shower of blood....

Faux News does it again.

EDIT - To be fair, this cap has not been authenticated, and could be shopped. After the Stephen Douglas/Frederick Douglass incident, however, I would not be the least bit surprised if it's legit.

Yuppie Camouflage?

Daria
I was driving home after getting an oil change when I found myself behind a ridiculous, black, full-size Hummer. "Why are you telling us this," you ask? Because the fucker was absolutely *plastered* with an equally ridiculous number of earth-friendly/eco-hippie/green-living bumper stickers. It was practically wallpapered with them, as if a layer of trite and tired one-liners could somehow distract the casual observer from the fact the vehicle beneath is a gas-guzzling behemoth of the vilest kind. The irony made me cringe.

It's been suggested that the choice of decor could, in fact, be parody display. I do not doubt the possibility, although a bit of well-planned eco-vandalism seems just as likely.

This is so phenomenally wrong on so many levels I don't think I can summarize it without making myself sick.

Here are some quotes from various sources, including the one linked to, above. I recommend this New Yorker article (also quoted in the article above) for another perspective. If you think it can't be worse than the bits I quote below, you're wrong.

CCA is the largest private prison “provider” in the United States, with meteoric stock growth, more than doubling in the first eight months of 2006. Among other facilities, CCA runs T Don Hutto, a former medium-security prison in Taylor, TX which, since 2006, has held non-criminal, immigrant “detainees,” against their will, under a pass-through contract with Immigration and Customs Enforcement division of Homeland Security. Approximately half the prisoners are children, many of them born in this country. No prisoner held is charged with a crime, nor are they deemed to be a danger to national security; it is simply their immigration/amnesty request status that has marked them for imprisonment. This is the first (and only other) time since the interment of Japanese during WWII that children have been imprisoned by the United States.
